MT. WASHINGTON
Mt.Washington gets a new ‘healthy choice’ restaurant, upstairs in the old Nordic Lodge. Former co-owner of Yamato Japanese Restaurant in Courtenay, and former owner of Sushi Mon Sushi Bar and Grill in Qualicum Beach, Wes Erikson is pleased to be offering sushi, curry rice bowls and Japanese ramen noodles from the new Sushi-Mon Restaurant up Mt. Washington. Customers are experiencing for themselves the concept of ‘Tasty, hot and fast’, with some finding it a challenge to finish a bowl of ramen soup! The soup is also loaded with fresh and delicious vegetables.
Many have commented that Sushi-Mon is answering the need for this style of restaurant up Mt. Washington, and that it fits in well with the resort. Owner Wes anticipates that the restaurant should help take pressure off the main lodge, which is incredibly busy over lunch, especially at weekends. Often Wes is on site to help chef Tao. Chef Tao worked for many years under master chef Sam Ogawa at Yamato Japanese Restaurant.
Sushi-Mon’s location is convenient for skiers parking in the lower lot, at the bottom of the Green & Hawk (6 pack) chair lifts. Skiers can choose to avoid the busy lodge and main parking area completely. Lift tickets can be purchased on the lower level on weekends, or skiers can ride the green chair up to the lodge to purchase tickets there on weekdays.
Whether you come for the taste, the big serving of soup, or for the healthy choices on offer, Sushi Mon Sushi and Noodle House looks set to please the people on Mt Washington.
